The girls have taken a lot of photos and video but haven't gotten in the habit of blogging yet. Until then, I will try do best to keep up for the Lodwick crew.
Our journey begins at Seattle Tacoma. Siena's ready for bed, Mara is ready for a trek. Mom also is smiling (at the moment)!
We stopped over in Houston via Alaska Airlines. We arrived early in the morning and lets just say, the crew was already tired. We had a day room at the Marriott at Houston Intercontinental. What is so amazingly slick about this hotel is that it's a small little tram ride between concourses. It drops you off right in the hotel lobby and is no more than 10 minutes away from your plane to hotel. Can't beat that!
Pictured is Siena on the tram. She was delighted, but a trooper on this first leg of our flight.
Interestingly, when we got on the "subway" (that's what they call the tram), the girls said - "this feels like a Disney ride". Each car on the tram carried 12 people maximum and it felt like a little toy train on a Disney ride. Sure enough, we were chatting with Virginia at breakfast (our table host) and she indicated that it was designed by someone at Disney.
"Seriously, it was designed by a Disney engineer"
- Virginia, Marriott Houston Intercontinental
Of course, we had to look this up and sure enough. The IAH Subway was designed and installed by the WED Transportation Systems (a.k.a. Walt Disney Imagineering! The tram is known as WEDway is the same type of "People Mover" system installed at the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.
After a few hours of rest, the girls were ready for some pool time before our long haul flight to London. Enjoy the picture of the girls hugging & smiling. We'll see how many more of these we can get on the trip!
Just a couple hours from now, we will be on our way to London!
