After a short but refreshing morning at the Marriott, the family headed to check in for British Airways Flight 194.
We were able to use the BA lounge in terminal D just before the flight. More on that soon. The lounge had comfortable seating but slightly small tables for a family of four. We got over that pretty soon though! Their food selection was pretty good with top award going to the Chicken, Mozzarella, and Pesto sandwiches; absolutely amazing.
Does this look like anyone getting away with something they shouldn't?
Mara is raiding the mini-milk fridge. They had a jar full of Oreos, so what is better than a pre-flight snack of cookies and milk. Yum!
What better way to start off a long-haul flight than by meeting your cabin crew.
Here's Captain Siena, our right-seat for BA 194. She'll have the controls for takeoff!
Of course, you might ask, why was Siena in the front of the plane?
That's the part that I was getting to. Call them spoiled (actually call me spoiled and lucky), I was able to get award travel tickets that booked us in First Class on the flight! I have never been in First Class for an International flight and let me tell you - it was pretty spectacular. We surprised the girls who found out only when we boarded the airplane. Saving our Alaska Airline miles definitely "paid" off on the international travel!
To the right is Mara with her pajamas and amenity kit. Mara and I were the only two on the right side of the airplane and Jasmine, our friendly cabin attendant really took care of us!
And Siena's first expression when she discovered this was her seat for the flight. Everything about this flight was big. The 777 is the largest plane they've ever seen, the seats were extremely large (4 across) , the entertainment screens were huge, etc, etc.
Lets just say, we were all excited. I may have had the same expression on my face (just didn't take a picture of it!)
Here is the seat partially reclined. The passengers completely relaxed, enjoying in-flight entertainment along with some warm nuts.
Pretty certain that Melissa enjoyed the flight accommodations too. For those that don't know Melissa, saying anything about a flight that's positive is a good day.
